Winemakers: Christian Binner

Grapes: 65% Gewürztraminer and 35% Pinot Gris

Features : Intense, complex and floral nose on the rose, the potpourri of dried flowers, but also greedy on the lychee, the apple compote or the dried apricot. On the palate, despite its delicacy, the wine is very dry and refreshing with its acidity. Very present tannins and a body offering a nice structure for an orange wine, the nice structure accompanies expressive aromas of rose, dried apricot, apple compote, quince and offers a finish long on the spices mixing black and green pepper.

Pairing: Duck breast with apples

Aging: 3 à 6 years

Alcohol : 14% Vol.

Culture : On the south-facing slopes of the Bildstoecklé terroir, the plots are grassy and see no more pesticides than synthetic fertilizers. Christian practices organic, biodynamic agriculture and herbal medicine. Obviously manual harvesting and at full maturity with selection on the vine.

Vinification: Orange wine, maceration wine, Skin contact wine, the process of letting white grapes macerate in their own juice to give it color and tannins has actually been used since Antiquity and the east here on Gewurtztraminer and Pinot Gris. The Binners have enjoyed wine experiences for several generations, and this orange cuvée is one of them. Complex blend of Si Rose 2020 with some 8 days of maceration of 10% Si Rose Grand Cru 2020 macerated for 2 months and 30% Si Rose 2018 and 2019, of which our winemaker keeps a perpetual reserve. After maceration, aging on fine lees for several months.

For the little story : It remains rare for Alsace wines to come from blends. This makes the wines of Christian Binner once again exceptional.
